Hutton Cranswick win 4-2 on penalties

Cliffe FC’s first team were at home to Hutton Cranswick’s third team in the first round of the East Riding Intermediate Country Cup. Things for Cliffe didn’t start to plan as they conceded early on, Cliffe levelled for 1-1 before the away side re-took the lead for 2-1. A well worked brace of goals for Cliffe saw the home side go 3-2 ahead. The away side scored an equaliser before half-time.

We had a real cup game in full flow and Cliffe re-took the lead from a header for 4-3. Cliffe looked to be on course for the win but a late goal meant the game would see an extra 30 minutes. 4-all after 90 minutes.
Extra-time never saw any clear chances and Cranswick had a free-kick on the edge of the box that was blocked by the wall. After no goals in extra-time, penalties would decide the match.
Cranswick prevailed in penalties 4-2.
