FT: 6-2 W
Cliffe FC had their third fixture in a week and faced Hedon Rangers Juniors at home.
Malcolm Bryce writes…
The weather was of an arctic wind and Hedon chose to play with the wind for the first half but still Cliffe took the lead when Kev Taylor forced the away defence in scoring an own goal for 1-nil to the home side. Hedon however managed to score two goals before the half-time whistle for Cliffe to go into the break 2-1 down. Cliffe manager, Keith Tiplady, decided to not change anything and sent the same 11 back out for the second half.
Cliffe began the half in the best way with Dave Heron scoring the home side’s equaliser and then Cliffe full back, Matt Birch, put Cliffe into a 3-2 lead with a great strike. Cliffe then took a 4-2 lead when substitute, Tom Hogg, set up Baz Summers. Dave Evans managed to score Cliffe’s fifth, his second goal in three games. Cliffe continued to push and soon Summers had his second and the home side’s sixth goal for 6-2.
Cliffe have another three fixtures this week, they face AFC Charter on Tuesday in the second round of the H.E Dean Cup and also have a league game away to Skirlaugh on Thursday with K.O at 6pm.
