Cliffe FC vs. Total Sign Solutions 21Mar09

Cliffe began looking very organised but without creating any clear chances and with this frustration Total Signs looked more motivated to win the game and soon the home side began to compete and looked more threatening going forward. Very few chances troubled the Total Signs’ goalkeeper but Scott Birch came close with a header and with the score at nil-nil half time arrived.

Cliffe came out second half and many of the players on the field just plainly didn’t look “up-for-it” and Total Signs morale shone threw and with this the home side took the lead after the ball broke loose to be nicely finished. Cliffe had it all to do but looked very light up-front and Total Signs continued to look the better side going forward. Cliffe were obviously chasing the game but their task soon was soon to come back from two goals down as Total Signs doubled their lead which was emphatically celebrated by the home side. With a switch to 3-4-3 formation Cliffe had to go for it if they were to get a goal but it was Total Signs that scored again and this condemned Cliffe to their biggest ever competitive defeat. 3-0 to the home side. To make matters worse Luke Crowther picked up a knock just before the third goal. Cliffe FC man of the match was named as Andy Moughan.

First team manager, Keith Tiplady, said: “I’m disappointed with the result. So many players were below par but I’m confident about the remaining fixtures. With this I ask for full and utmost concentration from the whole Cliffe FC squad.”

This result was crucial for Total Signs as they leap-frog Cliffe into 2nd, but with 8 league fixtures remaining all is still to play for and Total Signs still have to come to Cliffe.
