Cliffe FC vs Skirlaugh 4Apr09

Cliffe began brightly and looked a threat from the beginning and opened the scoring when Tom Hogg forced the ball into the net for 1-0 to Cliffe. Cliffe’s second goal was from full-back Jamie Hawksworth who shot from inside his own half and, with pressure on the ‘keeper from Kev Taylor, the Skirlaugh ‘keeper let the ball bounce over him into the net to double the Cliffe lead for 2-0. The third Cliffe goal came from the boot of Andy Kirkham and put the home side 3-0 up at half-time.

The second half saw Cliffe the better team and saw them play some nice football but a nasty incident when Andy Moughan clashed heads with a Skirlaugh forward saw the Skirlaugh played knocked out cold. The player did walk off the pitch without assistance but received a check-up at pitch side from paramedics – Having spoke to Skirlaugh, word is that the player is now okay. Andy Moughan also is fine and continued on during the game before being subbed off later.
With the game under-way once more Cliffe soon had a 4-0 lead and Kirkham had his second before Skirlaugh grabbed a consolation goal to make the final score 4-1 to Cliffe.

Cliffe play once again on Tuesday evening, facing Gilberdyke in the second round of the H.E Dean Cup. Cliffe FC are not due to play a league game until next Tuesday 14th April against Total Sign Solutions at Cliffe Park.
