Cliffe Reserves dominated this game against Civil Service Reserves with the result never in doubt.
Gary Wilson writes…
Cliffe got off to a quick start with Baz Summers firing a low shot past the keeper. Another goal followed mid-way through the half when Aaron Lees placed his shot into the bottom left hand corner. Civil Service rarely threatened the Cliffe goal in the first half, with one shot from distance just going over the bar their only real chance. Just before half-time Tom Ellwood drove down the left before cutting in and bending a right-footed shot into the top right-hand corner for a wonderful strike, which is unlikely to be bettered at Cliffe Park this season !
The second half started as the first had finished with Cliffe on top until Nathan Horner was unwittingly tackled by the referee. The ball fell to Civil Service’s best player, who proceeded to unleash a 25 yard thunderbolt into the top right-hand corner. However, 10 minutes later Horner made up for his earlier mishap by bending a free-kick over the wall and into the bottom corner.
Civil Service continued to play and were rewarded in the last minute when another free-kick thunderbolt was too hot for the Cliffe ‘keeper and a forward followed up to score.
