Cliffe FC U21s’ form continues in an indifferent manner as they lose to Brandesburton U21s as they still search for their first win in East Riding County FA U21s Midweek League.
Hugo Delgado writes…
Things began bright for Cliffe when Tom Hogg opened scoring after 3 minutes and when Hogg won a penalty it looked good for Cliffe’s luck changed when Hogg’s penalty was saved by the Brandesburton ‘keeper and when Brandesburton made it 1-1 followed by another before half-time Cliffe went in 2-1 down at the interval.
Cliffe quickly equalised after the break when Andrew Edwards’ cross went straight in for 2-2. Cliffe remained the only team on the field playing football and Brandesburton settled for the long-ball game for their pacey front line to run onto and it continued to work for them as they made it 3-2. Cliffe had the chance to level when another penalty was awarded, this time Christopher Jackson’s spot-kick was saved by the ‘keeper and to compound Cliffe’s bad luck further Brandesburton broke to make it 4-2 and seal all three points.
Cliffe FC U21s now sit 5th place and their next game is against third place East Riding Rangers next Wednesday, 22nd September.
