FT: 3-1 W
Stamford Bridge Res. 1 – 3 Cliffe FC
“CFC win at Stamford Bridge”
Cliffe FC’s first team progress into the second round of the York FA Cup with a 3-1 away win at Stamford Bridge as Cliffe FC Reserves are unlucky to lose 3-2 to Bishopthorpe Utd Reserves after extra time.
Hugo Delgado writes…
Cliffe FC, by their own standards, started slow and took time to break down the home side but soon enough Andy Addison broke down the right wing to cross the ball for Ben Rawson to tap home Cliffe’s opener. Andy Kirkham was on the end of a few stern words from the referee as he competed with the Stamford full-backs and ‘keeper.
Cliffe FC looked the more dominant team in the second half as they doubled their lead with a nice 25-yarder from Chris Jackson before Kev Simpson assisted Rawson to get his second to see Cliffe into a 3-nil lead. Stamford did have time to score a consolation goal before the half-time whistle making the final score 3-1 to the away side to see Cliffe through to the next round.

Cliffe FC 2ndXI 2 – 3 Bishopthorpe United Reserves (AET)
Cliffe FC’s Reserves bowed out of the cup after arguably being the better team against Bishopthorpe United Reserves and after being 2-1 ahead with both goals coming from Dan Collins, one being a 45 yard screamer, a stoppage time penalty scored by Bishopthorpe took the game into extra time and again Cliffe were unlucky with a stoppage time own goal being scored off Dave Hebson’s face putting the home side through 3-2 AET.
