In a rare Sunday afternoon outing a Cliffe FC XI beat new Selby League club, Eggborough Eagles by 5 goals to nil.

Chris Jackson pounced on a rebound from a Tom Hogg shot to make it 1-0 to visitors, Cliffe FC. Hogg rounded the ‘keeper and scored from a tight angle to make it 2-0 before the break. Dan Beach won a penalty early in the second half and Sean Bugg blasted the ball home from the spot for 3-0. Eggborough finished the game with 10-men after a dangerous lunge towards Kev Taylor saw the referee dismiss the offender with a straight red and goals from Lee Carter and a second from Chris Jackson round off Cliffe’s Sunday afternoon, 5-0 FT.

A slightly disjointed display against a robust and determined opponent. 5-0 flattered the hosts in the end and we had some real bright points but a lot of work to be done on the training ground ahead of September’s start.
