With the cancellation of the trip to Bridlington, Eggborough Eagles hosted Cliffe FC in Keith Tiplady’s side’s final friendly fixture before next week’s opener. Cliffe FC ran out 8-1 winners.
Malcolm Bryce writes…

“Thanks to Eggborough for stepping in and playing us at short notice. It was good for us to keep momentum going and Eggborough put up a spirited effort. Looking forward now to next week’s opener with Heslington.”

A close range Dave Reasbeck header opened scoring on the 4th minute, 0-1, before a Eagles drew level from a corner, 1-1. Nathan Parker made it 1-2 from a direct free-kick and then his header from a corner made it 1-3. Parker actually had the ball in the goal a further two times before the half-time period, one not given for the referee adjudging the ball not completely crossing the line and the other ruled offside. A neat lofted finish off the knee by Nigel Horner took Cliffe into half-time, 4-1 ahead.
