B&P Sports Selby Cup 2012
FT: Cliffe FC 11 – 2 Howden AFC
Cliffe FC hand Humber Premier League side Howden AFC a 11-2 hammering to open their B&P Sports Selby Cup 2012 campaign.
Hugo Delgado writes…
“A good workout against a side clearly going under some restructuring, we kept our focus which wasn’t always easy when goals start to fly in like that. Some promising performances amongst it all.”
~ Keith Tiplady, 5th August 2012
Tom Hogg opened scoring by breaking into the box and hammering the ball home, 1-0. Nathan Parker grabbed his first goal of the afternoon, lofting the ball past the ‘keeper, 2-0. Parker made it 3-0 within 15 minutes by neatly finishing off a set-piece. Lee Carter made it 4-0 with a hammered effort and Luke Crowther made it 5-0 from the penalty spot after Hogg was fouled in the area. Wes Pears made it 6-0 with a tidy effort and Kev Taylor, also with a tidy effort, made it 7-0 before the break.
Parker completed his hat-trick (8-0) before adding a his forth via a diving header to make it 9-0. Ally Harris’ clean sheet was denied by two late Howden consolation goals in which there was still time for another Carter goal after a brilliant run from Billy Atton, 10-1. Chris Harkin pounced onto a re-bound and made the final score 11-2. Referee’s man-of-the-match was four-goal Nathan Parker.
A great win over Humber Premier League side, Howden AFC, which involved some quality football from Cliffe FC for large periods of the match. Next weekend Keith Tiplady’s side face Selby Olympia, also in the Selby Cup.
