FT: Cliffe FC Reserves 1 – 3 Hemingbrough United Reserves
Hemingbrough United Reserves run out 3-1 winners in a midweek friendly versus Cliffe FC Reserves.
Malcolm Bryce writes…
“It was disappointing to lose the game, I thought we had the better of the 1st half and conceded a couple of sloppy goals. It could easily have gone the other way but there are a lot of positives to take out of it and that’s what pre-season is all about. We move on to the 2nd round of the cup on Saturday now (away at Brooklyn) and that’s where the real action starts for us.”

Cliffe came close in the opening exchanges, Jack Healey hitting the bar from close range but it was Hemingbrough who took the lead – scoring direct from a Luke Zacharenko free-kick, 0-1. An Aaron Lees handball inside the box was then punished, but with the same player first hitting the post and then finishing the rebound without realising the same player can strike the ball twice, score remained 0-1. Boro did double their lead from a close range effort before the break for 0-2, Paul Brown the scorer, HT.
Cliffe halved Boro’s lead in spectacular fashion, Graeme Rose scoring his first goal in Cliffe colours with a swerving effort from long-range, dipping just under the crossbar, 1-2. Boro did seal the game with another goal from close range, Darren Tate the scorer, to seal a 1-3 win and ensure the Archie McCartney trophy remains with Hemingbrough United, FT.
The New Inn Cliffe FC MOTM: Rhys Brown.
LRB Trophies Hemingbrough Utd MOTM: Luke Zacharenko.
