Cliffe FC 2ndXI vs. Huby United Reserves (H) 16th February 2013

Cliffe FC Reserves build upon last week’s decent result with an emphatic 9-0 home win versus Huby United’s Reserves.
Hugo Delgado writes…

Cliffe started brightly, putting Huby under pressure in possession with Joe White bossing the midfield. Ryan Sutherland opened the scoring on 10 mins with after neatly spinning his marker on the edge of the box before scoring a well placed effort in the corner. White doubled the lead with a surging run from midfield which culminated in him rounding the keeper and passing into an empty net. Sutherland sprang the offside trap and beat he Huby ‘keeper one on one for his second. White then completed the 1st half scoring converting a low cross with a smart finish.

Cliffe picked up where they left off after the break with Nigel Horner netting a classy hat trick, the pick of the bunch an unstoppable dipping, swerving effort from outside the box that nestled in the bottom right corner. Toby Bodycombe ended his goal scoring drought with a brace and a strong second half performance, his second saw him beat two Huby defenders before rounding the keeper and finishing from a tight angle. Manager Hebson enjoyed a 10 minute cameo showing some silky skills from the right wing.

“Another outstanding performance, building on last weeks excellent result, this gives us some real momentum. I can speak highly enough of the players, they not only played some really good football, they are starting to scare teams with the pressure they put on the ball. A really strong performance from a young squad, Matt Birch was excellent at the back as ever, he is becoming our “Mr Reliable” and Joe White bossed the middle of the park. Going forward we looked really dangerous all game, young Sutherland got us off to a strong start and Nigel Horner was just a menace with his pace and movement.”
