Cliffe FC Reserves suffer a 3-1 defeat at home to Thorpe United Reserves before Wednesday evening’s visit of Hemingbrough United Reserves.

David Hebson utilised a squad of over 21 players during the friendly, making a full set change of all 10 outfield players at half-time. Thorpe Utd’s second string lead 0-2 at the break, Kie Latham and Adam Tessyman with the goals. Lee Carter did hit the bar for Cliffe from outside the box and Nigel Horner had shot cleared off the line but the score remained 0-2 at the break, HT.

Cliffe got a goal back for 1-2 when Si Houlder grabbed his second goal in two friendlies, again a headed finish. Thorpe grabbed the all-important forth goal of the game, Greg Anderson scrambling the ball in from close range for 1-3. Cliffe searched their second as Sean Gallagher and Cliffe man-of-the-match Ryan Sutherland both looked good going forward but 1-3 was the final score, FT.

Cliffe FC Reserves’ busy schedule continues this week as Wednesday they host Hemingbrough United Reserves in a friendly, then Saturday they travel to Brooklyn Reserves in the second round of the York League Reserve Cup.
