Cliffe FC 12 - 0 Long Riston 2Nov13

Cliffe made the longest journey they’ve made this season, travelling all the way to Humbleton on the outskirts of Hull to face Long Riston, a side from East Riding County League. Cliffe dominated from start to finish without really getting out of the low gears, but it did take 15 minutes to open scoring, Simon Houlder finishing right footed for 0-1. Some individual quality from Ian Beckram double the score, 0-2. Houlder and Beckram grabbed their second of the game a piece to make the half-time scoreline 0-4, HT.

The second half began with Dave Laverack making the only save of the game he had to make before Beckram made it 0-5, riding a set of challenged to take it round the ‘keeper and complete his hat-trick. Ryan Sedman burst forward from his right-back position to neatly chip the ball into the net for 0-6 and after being caught offside numerous times, Houlder completed his hat-trick (a goal that suspiciously looked like an OG) – 0-7, then he bagged again to take his tally to four, 0-8. Left-back Andy Edwards also got in on the goalscoring, smashing a low shot through the ‘keeper’s legs to make it 0-9. Sedman took the score to double figures with his second of the game, 0-10. Tom Hogg, a virtual spectator for most of the game at centre-half, went on a surging box-to-box run and slid the ball into the far corner to make it 0-11. Houlder turned provider for cup-specialist Kev Taylor to grab yet another cup goal and make the final score, 0-12 FT.
