Cliffe FC 5 - 2 Wilberfoss 9Nov13

Cliffe opened scoring early on, a Jack Healey heading on for Simon Houlder to poach the opening goal, 1-0. Wilberfoss, who sit bottom of Division Two table, didn’t make the trip to Oxen Lane just to roll over as their robust physical style of play began to develop and with that Wilberfoss first equalised, 1-1, and then took the lead with a neat finish, 1-2, as Cliffe let their performance level drop mid-way through the half. Tom Robinson was introduced, coming on for an injured Shane Cawkill whilst Cliffe looked better going forward as the half ended, a few chances going begging – but the signs were there that the home side could get back into the game, 1-2 HT.

Simon Houlder also had to leave the field due to injury and was replaced by Chris Jackson and it was Jackson who broke past the Wilberfoss defence and slipped the ball past the ‘keeper to make it 2-2. The winner was superbly made by a Kev Taylor assist and Jackson bagged his second of the game, 3-2. Man-of-the-match Healey extended Cliffe’s lead with his first goal for the Oxen Lane club, finishing off a chance from close range, 4-2. Robinson then bagged the final goal of the game, to make the final score 5-2. The only real sour point of the game came from the final moments which saw Wilberfoss reduced to 10-men for lashing out off the ball and a resulting straight red card, FT.

Cliffe FC Reserves Summary
York Minster Engineering Football League – Reserve ‘D’
FT: Hamilton Panthers Reserves 8 – 0 Cliffe FC Reserves

Cliffe FC Reserves slump to a heavy 8-0 defeat to a very strong Hamilton Panthers Reserves side, with very little positives to take from the fixture. Next week, Cliffe FC Reserves host Rufforth United Reserves as they look to get their Reserve ‘D’ campaign back on track.
