York Minster Engineering Football League – Reserve C
HT: 1-0
FT: Cliffe FC Reserves 3 – 0 F1 Racing Reserves

Cliffe FC Reserves end the 2014/2015 season on a positive, with a strong 3-0 win against F1 Racing Reserves.
Malcolm Bryce writes…

A quick turnaround from Saturday’s 5-1 win over Bishop Wilton as Cliffe welcomed F1 Racing’s second string to Oxen Lane on Monday evening.
With the wind at their backs for the first half, Cliffe were able to play football in the opposition’s half for the opening interval. Nigel Horner almost scored in the opening seconds, robbing F1 from the kick-off but hit his shot narrowly wide. Luke Durham opened scoring with a speculative drive that evaded the ‘keeper to put Cliffe 1-0 ahead. Cliffe remained 1-up at the break.

Cliffe confirmed the points in the second half, extending their lead to 2-0 when Tom Grundy was allowed to hit a shot from outside the box that flew past the ‘keeper to double Cliffe’s lead. F1 had a trio of chances go begging, first hitting both the post then bar from a corner, and then a back post header went wide. Ryan Tiplady eventually went on to earn a clean-sheet as stand-in ‘keeper for Cliffe. A quality run down the left-wing saw David Lees create an easy tap-in for Sean Gallagher to make the final score 3-0.

A positive end to 2014/2015 for Cliffe FC Reserves, hopefully a promotion charge can be mounted next season.
Cliffe FC Reserves will finish 6th in the York League Reserve C table this season.
