Cliffe FC Reserves recover an away point after being 2-0 down, eventually drawing 3-3 with Strensall.
Hugo Delgado writes…

Cliffe FC Reserves travelled to Strensall expecting a close game in the reverse of a fixture they narrowly won the previous week. The game started with Strensall the hungrier side and playing with a 5 man midfield against the 4 of Cliffe they were first to every tackle and loose ball. The pressure mounted and Cliffe found themselves 2 – 0 down after only 10 minutes following an aerial bombardment that delivered 2 quick goals for Strensall. Nigel Horner then dropped back into midfield and Cliffe began to take a stranglehold on the game with the tough tackling of Jackson Lucitt and Jay Grundy in midfield delivering the lion share of possession for Cliffe. Rewards for Cliffe’s renewed efforts came quickly with Tom Ellwood earning a penalty that Nigel Horner converted for 2-1.
The equaliser arrived just before half time for Cliffe and it was Horner again who got it, receiving the ball into feet inside the box and with back to goal rolled his marker and drilled the ball into bottom corner for 2-2. HT

After the break Cliffe again piled forward in search of the lead but were hit on the break and fell behind for 3-2. Once again the equaliser arrived swiftly for Cliffe, Nathan Leach beating his man wide on the right and cutting inside to float a shot against the far upright with the Strensall ‘keeper beaten. Jay Grundy reacted fastest and lashed the follow up into the back of the net for 3-3.
Cliffe continued to pile forward in search of a winner and had the ball in the net after Ryan Tiplady tapped in a rebound from a free kick but was ruled offside.

A really enjoyable and entertaining game of football ended 3-3 and was probably a fair result given the effort both sides put into the game.

“I was delighted with the spirit we showed to get back into the game today, a month ago we would certainly have lost that game having gone 2 down so early so it represents real progress for us. Lucitt in midfield has added some of the bite and energy we’ve been missing for most of the season and I expect us to really kick on now through to the end of the season.”
